Setting your Options

Options

The Options page allows you to set up your ActiveCheckout ActiveCheckout password and specify an idle-time for password protecting ActiveCheckout and tell ActiveCheckout how and when you want it to run; recognise MasterCard SecureCode authenticated websites and fill forms. For ease of setting these options they are divided into two categories, Preferences and Security.

Preferences

If you are not sure which are the best settings for you, you can use the Recommended Settings for Preferences described in the next section.

The Preferences category allows you to choose if you want ActiveCheckout to:

  • Run automatically when you start your computer
  • Automatically fill forms when they are loaded in your browser window
  • Display your profile and credit card details in the Drag & Drop box before they are used for form filling to allow you to confirm or adjust them
  • Automatically detect if the merchant site you are making a purchase at is MasterCard SecureCode compliant so that you can make an authenticated payment (SecureCode is the, recently introduced, authentication standard for online payments using MasterCard).

An explanation of the buttons and fields on this page is given below.

Options > Preferences

This page displays the following buttons:

Apply - click to save any changes and keep this page open so that you can view the other categories
OK - click to save the current settings and close this page
Cancel - click to close this page without saving any changes

Use the following fields to set your preferences:

    General

  • Run at startup check box

If you leave this check box blank, you will need to start ActiveCheckout yourself when you want to use ActiveCheckout for filling forms or to change your details.

    - OR -

Select this check box to run ActiveCheckout automatically when you start your computer. This way ActiveCheckout is always available on your desktop when you need it for filling forms.

    Form Filling

  • Auto detect forms check box

Leave this check box blank, so that ActiveCheckout will only fill a form when you tell it to by selecting Fill in Form from the menu.

    - OR -

Select this check box if you want ActiveCheckout to automatically detect and fill forms, as they are loaded in your browser. When you select this box you can also set ActiveCheckout's Form detection sensitivity (see below).

  • Show details before filling forms check box

If this checkbox is blank, when ActiveCheckout fills a form it will use your default personal profile and default credit card details.

    - OR -

If you select this checkbox ActiveCheckout will display the Drag & Drop box, before filling a form, to give you the opportunity of selecting an alternative profile or credit card to use. You can also temporarily adjust any of the details displayed in the Drag & Drop box before they are used to fill the form.

  • View keystrokes

If you leave this check box blank, which is the default, ActiveCheckout fills the fields on a form simultaneously.

    - OR -

Select this check box if you want ActiveCheckout to animate form filling by typing characters one at a time.

  • Form detection sensitivity

This sliding scale is set to Normal (middle position) by default. You can slide the bar to select from Min, Low, Normal, High and Max. The higher the sensitivity the more ActiveCheckout will pop-up and offer to fill forms. When the detection sensitivity is lower, automatic form detection will only kick off for more important forms or forms that are "worthier". The default setting is a good compromise between accuracy of detection and importance of forms. You may increase the sensitivity if you think that the auto-detection is not detecting forms as often as expected. Decrease the sensitivity if you think the auto-detection is detecting forms more often than you would like. Remember, you can always override this behaviour by doing the form filling manually (i.e from the right click menu or by double clicking on your ActiveCheckout character)

The Drag & Drop box also allows you to fill individual fields in a form (see Drag & Drop).

    MasterCard SecureCode

  • Disable SecureCode support check box

This check box is usually left blank and it only applies if you have enrolled for MasterCard SecureCode and you are shopping at a MasterCard SecureCode enabled website.

SecureCode is the recently introduced authentication standard for online payments using MasterCard credit cards

If you are enrolled for MasterCard SecureCode, ActiveCheckout will prompt you when you are shopping at a merchant website that provides MasterCard SecureCode authentication. When you make a payment it will display a SecureCode Authentication page and ask you to enter your SecureCode to accept the transaction.

    - OR -

Select this checkbox only if you have enrolled for MasterCard SecureCode but you don't want to take advantage of the added security offered by MasterCard SecureCode compliant websites.

When you are happy with the preferences you have set, click the  Apply button.
If you wish to change your options in other categories, select the appropriate category or click  OK to apply changes and close the Options page.

Recommended Settings for Preferences

The preferences you set decide if ActiveCheckout:

  • Runs automatically when you start your computer
  • Automatically detects and fills forms when they are loaded in your browser window and the detection sensitivity
  • Displays your profile and credit card details in the Drag & Drop box before form filling
  • Automatically detects if the merchant site you are making a purchase at is MasterCard SecureCode compliant so that you can make an authenticated payment.
